Plagiarism most foul
The book by Karl Jones appears to be completely plagiarized from Geraldine Evans Rafferty & Llewelyn series, which was originally published by St. Martin's Press in 1993. It should be removed from GR & amazon, because it is not an original work by the copyright holder.
The title of the original work is Dead Before Morning.
A few comparisons to demonstrate that this book is plagiarized wholesale, with only the names changed:
The excerpts from the original are italicized while the excerpts from this book are in bold:
Beginnig:
'Is it yourself?' Detective Inspector Joseph Aloysius Rafferty winced as his mother's voice threatened to pierce his eardrum and, although briefly tempted to plead not guilty, he had perforce to agree that yes, it was himself.
“Is it yourself?” Detective Inspector Patrick Augustine O’Malley winced as his mother’s voice threatened to pierce his eardrum. He was briefly tempted to plead not guilty and perhaps pretend to be the answering machine or something; good manners, and the knowledge that his mother wouldn’t be deceived, stopped him though and he agreed that yes, it was himself
Chapter 5:
Llewellyn looked up from his study of the Hospital Yearbook, which Mrs.Galvin had so obligingly lent them, as Rafferty entered their temporary office the next morning and flung himself into a chair. 'Still no sign of the murder weapon?' he questioned Llewellyn. Llewellyn shook his head. 'They should finish searching the hospital and its grounds today. Has Dr. Dally been able to give you any idea what the murder weapon might be?"
Foley looked up from his study of the Hospital Yearbook, which Abigail Trebor had so obligingly lent them, as O’Malley entered their temporary office the next morning and flung himself into a chair. “Still no sign of the murder weapon?” he asked Foley. Foley shook his head. “They should finish searching the hospital and its grounds today. Has Dr Dolan been able to give you any idea what the weapon might be?”
Chapter 10:
The Yeardly Clinic was crying out for money, that much was obvious as O’Malley and Foley drove through the open gates. The grounds were a lot smaller than at the Oakley Sanatorium, which should have made them easier to maintain, but they were badly neglected. Couch-grass pushed through the gravel of the drive and the only plants were hardy shrubs that were capable of looking after themselves. As Gilbert had said, there were no gymnasiums or Jacuzzis here. The Victorian era buildings that made up the clinic had a shabby air of faded grandeur and, like the minor gentry from that era, attempts had been made to keep up appearances.
The Holbrook Clinic was crying out for money, that much was obvious as Rafferty and Llewellyn drove through the open gates. The grounds were a lot smaller than at the Elmhurst Sanatorium, but they were badly neglected. Couch-grass pushed through the gravel of the drive and the only plants were hardy shrubs that were capable of looking after themselves. As Gilbert had said, there were no gymnasiums or Jacuzzis here. The Victorian buildings, too, had a shabby air of rather faded grandeur and, like the minor gentry from that era, attempts were made to keep up appearances
This review is about the book, not the author, and this book is a wholesale plagiarism. If you want to read the real series, it is easy to find. Also, you don't need to wait for Karl Jones to "finish" the other books in the series, since they are already available for sale by the original author, all the way up to book 15. Amazon page is here
That is all.
