PSA: Banned Books Week is coming: September 22-27, 2014

The Miseducation of Cameron Post - Emily M. Danforth The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian - Sherman Alexie

Celebrate the freedom to read. Read banned or challenged books.

See: ALA website for details:

What will you read?

I am going to read the The Miseducation of Cameron Post, which spawned a challenge and resulted in an entire list of books being banned from a Delaware reading list. See controversy here:

I am also going to read The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie which is a perennial banning favorite, and which was banned in Meridian, Idaho, adjacent to my hometown of Boise, just last April:

That didn't work out so well:

Lol.

When will the grown-ups learn. If you tell a teenager she can't read something, there is nothing that will stand between her and that book.
