This is among my favorite of the Anne books (although, really, how does one pick a favorite Anne?) because it is written in an epistolary style that really allowed LMM to explore Anne's voice in a much more personal way. And her voice is charming. I love Summerside, I love Spook's Lane, I love Little Elizabeth, and Katherine, and Rebecca Dew.
Windy Poplars is full of youthful idealism and young love. There is a sweetness and an innocence to Anne's love for Gilbert that is delightful.
