Number the Stars - Lois Lowry

.06: A book that makes me sad.

I read this book to my son a couple of years ago. It is a wonderful book by Lois Lowry, about a little known aspect of WWII and the Holocaust. It tells the story of the invasion and occupation of Denmark by the Nazi's and the subsequent relocation - secretly and by the Danish people - of nearly their entire Jewish population across the ocean to Sweden.

It is a triumph of the human spirit book, both devastatingly sad and epically uplifting. Which is the best kind of sad book ever. I cried while I was trying to read it out loud. It wasn't pretty.
