Tolkien Week

Yesterday marked the beginning of Tolkien week, which is always the week (running from Sunday to Saturday), in which September 22 falls. September 22 is Hobbit Day, so chosen because that is the birthdate of both Bilbo and Frodo Baggins.

In honor of Tolkien week, Brainpickings has a lovely post about Tolkien the artist as opposed to Tolkien the writer or Tolkien the philologist. He was a man of many talents, and some of his art can be seen appended to the post.
